Teen killed in senior skip day crash

An annual tradition of seniors skipping class at a private school in Georgia turned tragic when a 17-year-old driver on the way to the mall with a friend crashed into a tree, killing her classmate, authorities said.



Makayla Penn, 18, of McDonough, was riding in the passenger seat of a Mini Cooper driven by Cristina Pavon-Baker — her classmate at Community Christian School in Stockbridge — when the driver suddenly lost control on Interstate 75 in Morrow and crashed on Monday in Clayton County, the Georgia State Patrol confirmed to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
